Background[]

In 1977, 12 year-old Megan, finds out from the police that her father had apparently died by suicide, even though she doesn't believe it. 35 years later she found out he was murdered by Angela Martin to cover another murder she committed before. (" Daddy Issues")

Later, she married Todd Fleming. Together they had a daughter Lacey. After the car accident Todd filled for divorced and for full-custody for Lacey. Due to she works 18 hours a day making her "absent mother" so Todd won custody which Lacey blames her for that resulting her having a bad relationship with both but would improved.

As going to work she suffers car accident which gave her minor nerve damage sustained, she can no longer use her hands to perform surgery. She has to work hard to get her personal life in order.

Skills and abilities[]

She is a brilliant, world class neurosurgeon but after the accident she uses her vast medical knowledge as M.E. Due to minor nerve damage sustained in the accident, she can no longer use her hands to perform the fine manipulation which is required for the successful practice of surgery.

Megan is extremely empathetic even though she doesn't show it but that is one of the reasons why she is rude to the suspects

Notes[]

  • Kate Murphy, chief Medical Examiner, forensic anthropologist and Megan's superior, had briefly dated Megan's ex-husband, Todd.
  • Delany had an experience similar to her character. Two weeks before filming the pilot episode, Delany's car was hit by a bus in Santa Monica; she broke two fingers of her hand, and her car was destroyed.
  • Delany said in an interview that she loves to play "complicated characters" and her character in Body of Proof is "complicated, smart, and definitely complex."
